Indoor Air Quality
Indoor Air Quality
Why is Indoor Air Quality important. There may be more in your home then you think. The air in your home can be 5 times more polluted then the outside air. Todays homes are so well insulated, and keep out the elements, but also keep airborne particles that can aggravate breathing difficulties. Nearly 72 trillion particles enter the average home every day. Most homes generate about 40lbs of dust a year for every 1500 square feet. 1 oz.. of dust can contain 40,000 dust mites, one of the most common allergens. The CleanEffects system removes 99.89% of allergens.

Plugged Condenser Coil
Plugged Condenser Coil
Plugged condenser coils can cause high electric bills, excessive heat, high head pressure, and premature compressor damage. It is very important to keep animals away from the condensing unit, that way it wont plug up with hair. During every maintenance and service check, our technicians flush out the condenser coil, doing our best to prevent any of the above.

Copper Lines rubbing
Copper Lines rubbing
Copper lines when touching, rub together when the unit is running do to vibration. During a routine service, our technicians do their best to notice small things like this that can turn into something big. In the picture to the left, the TXV(Freon Metering device) sensing bulb tube lost it freon causing the device to not open and close properly, restricting freon flow. The TXV needed to be replaced in order for the unit to heat the home. this is a very costly repair, and could also cause premature compressor damage. Another reason seasonal maintenance is so important.

Why is it important to have your A/C serviced?
Why is it important to have your A/C serviced?
It is important to have your A/C Unit serviced twice a year, both in heating and in cooling. The whole purpose of getting it serviced is to prevent your unit from going down when it is needed most. Preventative maintenance is crucial in preventing the big expensive repairs such as a compressor or motor replacements. Replacing the small stuff that wear out like run capacitors which help run the condenser motor and compressor are a lot less expensive than having to replace a motor or compressor due to a high amp draw because a low run capacitor. Another important check is your freon levels. Proper charge has a lot to do with how long your unit runs and how effective your unit cools your home. There are also parts that can be installed to help your unit run more efficiently. Ultimate Comfort HVAC offers Maintenance Agreements to help customers maintain their units. Call and ask us about it today.

Why is it important to replace your filter
Why is it important to replace your filter
It is much more important then people realize to replace their filter at least once a month. If the filter isn't changed on a regular basis the evaporator coil can become plugged. If the coil gets plugged it will block air flow and cause the coil to freeze. This will cause you unit to run constantly, putting strain on your unit and causing your electric bill to go up. It can also overheat your compressor. Dirty evaporator coils can be cleaned but it can be expensive. Replacing your filter will save your unit and your pocket book.

The Importance of a TRAPPED drain line
The Importance of a TRAPPED drain line
Have you ever noticed a PVC line connected to your A/C unit or your roof, or a pipe sticking out the side of your home with water dripping from it? That is the Evaporator Coil drain pan drain line. That is where the water that sweats off the evapoator coil drains out of. This line becomes even more important during the Monsoon Season or when there is humidity in the air. As warm humid air goes accross your cold evaperator coil, the coil will begin to sweat. The more humidity in the air the more the coil will sweat and water will start pooring off the coil going into Evaperator Coil pan and out through the drain line. Here is where the TRAP becomes very important. When the trap is filled with water, it breaks the vacuum built up inside the Evap Coil compartment allowing the water to drain out during the run cycle (While the unit is running). Without a trap the unit will only drain during the off cycle (When the unit is not running) because the vacuum created by the blower will hold the water in. Now during the Mansoon Season, your unit will have much longer run times because it will be removing a lot of moisture from the air, so without a trap breaking the vacuum and allowing the water to drain out during the run cycle, the pan will overfill and run down the return air duct and can cause water damage to your sheetrock or cause the return duct to collapse. If you have any thoughts that your unit may not be draing properly or you just want the peace of mind that your drywall wont bubble up or come crashing down do to water damage, Ultimate Comfort will be glad to come out and make sure your unit is draing properly.
